How to Write a Monthly Investor Update
Investor memos are an important way to foster transparency, maintain trust, and keep stakeholders informed about the progress, challenges, and future plans of your company.
What is an investor update, and how often should I send one?
An investor update can be shared monthly or quarterly, depending on your preferred cadence and stage of growth. This note will help you keep existing investor up to date and potential investors warm. We have provided an example of at the bottom of this page
How should I send it and is there software that helps?
We recommend keeping your investor email tracking simple in the early days. A spreadsheet and using YAMMs or GEM are extremely effective. When the time comes to your Series A, you may to upgrade to Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, or another email CRM.
As for tracking business metrics Hubspot for startups is a great place to start, as well as Notion or spreadsheet. You can access deals for this software through our BuiltFirst link.
